2010 MOPS Service Project
In case you missed our meeting this week, we're sending you a heads up about a service project we'll be doing as a group on April 16th, 2010.
We'll be partnering with Global Health Ministries to create "Midwife Kits", which will be sent to needy areas of the world to help midwives deliver healthier babies! Many of the items in each kit can be gently used or purchased inexpensively, so we'll be collecting donations of your gently used (or new) items needed to create as many kits as possible.
Each kit includes:
*New- Two 8” pieces of heavy white cotton knit/crochet yarn or twill tape. (These will be umbilical cord ties!)
*New- 1 razor blade-single-edge, safety wrapped. (Found at Home Depot, etc.)
*Gently used/New- 1 regular sized bath towel.
*Gently used/New- 1 -36” square bed sheet (cut to size) or muslin.
*Gently used/New- 1 wash cloth (thin).
*New- 1 bath size bar Ivory soap.
*Gently used/New/or hand knit- 1 newborn stocking cap (keep hand knit ones small).
*Gently used/New- 1 small/newborn cotton or flannel shirt (to waist only as babies do not wear diapers. Onesies/sleepers can be cut to size and hemmed.)
*Gently used/New- 1 receiving blanket.
*New- 1 pair plastic or latex gloves size medium (clean, not sterile). NO kitchen gloves.
*New- 1 Small Ziploc bag & 1- two gallon Ziploc bag.
We have a small budget set a side as a MOPS group to put a few of these kits together, but we thought it would be even better if we could do more.
Please look over the list and bring in any of the items that you can to the next Feb. & March meetings. (Donating is totally optional.) Thank you!
